Is Obama snatching defeat from the jaws of victory?

This is going to be the election that is going to be decided by which spouse says the fewest dumb things.

Michelle Obama is taking heat for saying 'for the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm proud of my country' at a campaign rally for her husband in Wisconsin yesterday

Put this on the list of things TO NOT SAY from a position of power, prestige and wealth especially after attending 2 of the most prestegious universities on the planet (Princeton and Harvard).

Barak and Hillary both need to ship their "better halfs" off on a 6 month vacation until after the election.

People don't tolerate whining from the ruling class very well.

UPDATE

Just heard a great quote on the news but I can't remember who said it "Michelle Obama has only become proud of her country for the first time...........while George Bush was president"

OUCH!!!!!

Who is more frightening?

A pissed off Hillary Clinton or a pissed off Nancy Reagan?

IMHO Nancy Reagan makes Hillary look like a girl scout! Even now at 87!

Someone actually paid for this study?

More advanced cancer seen in uninsured Americans

I'd like to get paid for a study....my study would be to prove people who drive cars are more likely to be in a car accident than people who don't drive cars.

Or how about this one...to prove people who ingest poison are more likely to die than a person who does not ingest poison.

Or this one....to prove people with more money are likely to own more things than people with less money.

I could come up with thousands.....where do I sign up to get my expenses paid for doing this study....I have LOTS of expenses.

Just a few thoughts on "Spygate".

1. We now know that the "destroyed" tapes included much more than the disputed NY Jets game. Why were tapes unrelated to the offense destroyed?

2. Goodell is just as shady as any other big business chairman would be. This story shows the real Goodell...the one who says the right thing at the right time then blows it off later.

3. The now $100 million lawsuit against the Patriots, Belichick and Kraft the owner. Add to that a former employee implicating the Patriots organization who has enough credibility that Congress is considering granting immunity for his testimony.

4. Damn straight the US Government has a right to get involved. The US Government (and the citizens of the US) have granted the NFL (as well as other sports) protections from competition, tax breaks and other perks. If you're going to take the perks you have to take seriously the questions the people offering those perks are asking. If you don't want to answer questions, give up the perks!!! I doubt the NFL would be so lucky to only lose $1 in their next anti-trust case after a debacle like this.

5. It's clear that this is how Belichick operates, and has been operating for at least 8 seasons. The dude is a bad egg and my hunch is he will bring down the entire Kraft ship and as many people he can when the ship starts to sink. By the way I have a feeling that "nice guy" Kraft is going to go down in a ball of flames before this is over as well.

6. Those 3-point red zone victories that New England and the NFL were so proud of are apparently not as impressive as once believed. Of course your going to win if you know the plays your opposition is going to run in the red zone. It's quite a risky strategy to tape your opponents signals and plays unless you know you're going to get away with it.

7. So much for "Dynasty" talk in Boston. The Patriots Super Bowl wins will always be called into question. In fact, I could see this getting so bad that at least one game has a very real chance of being declared a forfeit or out right changed.

8. We already know Belichick and his staff cheated, we know he has a long history of taping and stealing plays and signals, we know that the Patriots organization and/or coaches have already been fined over a half a million dollars, and we also know that more than just the Jets tapes were destroyed.

Can you imagine a scenario where Kraft, Belichick and his chief lieutenants have to explain all of this (under threat of perjury) to a bunch of lawyers like, um....I don't know.....CONGRESS? This is going to get ugly.

Why?

Why is it that whenever I order anything from Starbucks with an extra shot of espresso, they proceed to tell me how many are already in it?

Like I tell my kids "I don't care if it has 1 million shots of espresso in it, give me one more"!

A few thoughts on the last three Super Days

Barrack Obama is going to win the Democratic nomination.

Eli Manning to David Tyree is the most exciting play in Super Bowl history.

I wonder what Chelsea Clinton's employer is getting out of this? She hasn't been to work in like a month.

The New England offensive line is not very good. They looked slow and out of shape and were mauled by the Giants. Brady never had a chance.

Bobby Knight was an outstanding coach but to be compared to John Wooden is insane. I would give him the nod over Dean Smith though.

Do you think ANYONE has ever told Roger Clemens "NO"? I'm figuring no one has since he was 6 and they found out he could throw a baseball.

Why are there no moderate political analysts? They all seem to be at the outer fringe of their respective parties.

Didn't any of Heath Ledger's doctors go over any drug interaction material with him? He had 6 or more prescription meds in his system at the same time, all legal.

Marcus Camby is KILLING my fantasy team!!!! I think he's doing it on purpose too.

The Kennedy women exude class.....the men, not so much.

2004 NFL Draft QB's, best ever?

Take a quick look at this list:

Eli Manning...1...NY Giants

Phillip Rivers...4...San Diego

Ben Roethlisberger...11...Pittsburgh

JP Losman...22...Buffalo

Matt Schaub...90 (3rd round)...Houston Texans (Drafted by Atlanta)

Luke McCown...106 (4th round)...Tampa Bay (Drafted by Cleveland)

All of these guys have started at least once and have already won 2 super Bowls that's as many as the "Best Ever" QB class of 1983 won (Elway...twice). In fact it took Elway 14 YEARS in the league before he finally won that one.

Statistically, the '04 class may never measure up to the '83 class (Marino alone makes that unlikely) but they already measure up championship wise. In addition Eli, Rivers and Big Ben all have reasonable shots at winning a few more of those Lombardi trophies.

Regardless, the QB draft of 2004 was pretty impressive.

Democrats and California

Granted it's only 10:30 and only 22% of the votes have been counted but Billary Clinton has a really big lead. In fact she's performed extremely well throughout the southwest.

I'm assuming the Hispanic voter turnout is substantial and overwhelmingly in her favor.

It's never too early to prepare for the Kentucky Derby

Pool One of the Kentucky Derby futures wager has been released. Go here to check out some early favorites.

My preliminary top 6

War Pass: 12-1...Undefeated with two Grade 1 wins...highest speed figure.

Pyro: 12-1...Gamer but only win is Maiden race...trains with Eclipse winner Curlin.

El Gato Malo: 15-1...Undefeated...closest anyone has come is 4.5 lengths.

Yankee Bravo: 20-1...Undefeated...started out on grass like Barbaro.

Monba: 30-1...Strong finisher trained by Pletcher.

Bob Black Jack: 50-1...Second highest speed figure but has not run longer than 7 furlongs.

I'll probably throw down 2 bucks on at least a couple of these depending on how the odds move.

Wagering ends on Sunday 2/10/08.

How do the Lakers do it?

Having grown up in Southern California I've always been amazed at how the Lakers can trade for great big men. Just off the top of my head we've got:

Wilt Chamberlain
Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul Jabbar)
Shaq
Pau Gasol

Dr Jerry Buss never fails to amaze. Go Lakers!!!
